Rivalry Lives Up to Expectations; WWGRD Draw the Mighty Drunks

It was the battle everyone had been waiting for since the first puck drop of the season; WWGRD vs. The Mighty Drunks. This was a battle between friends, former teammates, and between the best two jerseys in the league. A game that started with friendly chatter during warm-ups quickly became serious when the silky-haired assistant captain Sean Micelli made his mark on the game. Receiving a pass in the neutral zone, the youngest Micelli brother used his speed to gain the zone before splitting the defenceman. As he was taken down in an act of desperation by the Drunk defenceman, the sliding Micelli was able to direct the puck through the tendy's five hole and give the team the early lead they were looking for.

The Mighty Drunks weren't going to take this laying down however, as they were able to capitalize on some sweet passing to tie the game on the powerplay with all-star defenceman Joshua Covelli in the box for WWGRD. Now it was WWGRD's turn to respond, and they did. After ringing post earlier in the game, Dan DiCarlo was looking to correct his aim and find some twine. He wound up a clapper from the point, with visions of blasting the rubber straight through the tendy, but he came up just short and whiffed on the shot... but this worked out for the best, as Brandon Pancerny corralled the loose puck and pumped a shot passed the unprepared Drunk goalie. WWGRD's lead was restored, and their captain was about to add to it. After taking away a goal from the other team with a save on an empty net, Marc Berthiaume was ready to contribute again, but this time by finding the scoresheet. The WWGRD cappy pressured the Mighty Drunk defender and caused a turnover in the offensive zone. He picked up the puck and found himself in a two on one situation down low, and with the defender taking away the pass he blindly threw a shot at the net and heard it ring off the post and in, echoing through the arena. The lead now stood at 3-1, but would it be enough?

Brian Dubois was making his second appearance of the season for WWGRD and he was looking good early, turning aside a few good chances from the Mighty Drunks. He would come up big once again as he sprawled out to make a save on a breakaway, but had no chance on the rebound as a Mighty Drunk player followed up the play. The Mighty Drunks would keep up the pressure, and would tie the game up on a shot through the legs of a WWGRD player and bar down. Despite some late pressure from WWGRD, the game would end in that final score of 3-3. 1 point going each way, no one overly excited, no one's feelings hurt.

Reports caught up with Brandon Pancerny after the game, who tied himself for the team lead with his 8th gino of the campaign during Thursdays contest. "The team put forward a solid effort, but we've blown a couple of leads lately and we gotta work on holding onto those, especially with the playoffs coming up."

As Pancerny alluded to, the games that matter are about to start. WWGRD takes on the Crooked Sticks on Friday, March 14th at 3pm in the Round of 16. This will be the first test of the playoffs for the boys in blue, who will be in tough without Brent Lozinsky (injury), Sean Micelli and Alexander the Macedonian Menace Djordjevski (fucking shit up in Cancun), and Joshua Covelli (prior commitments). Despite the notable absences, WWGRD will be making no excuses and will come out ready to play Friday. #WeAreWWGRD #AnythingForHockey

Big Boy Brent Breaks Out, Locks Down Point for WWGRD

WWGRD made their much anticipated return to the ice for the second half of the UWIHL Season on Friday, January 17th when they took on the Angelwood Jacks in an afternoon affair. Fans filled the stands at Adie Knox for the 3:30 puck drop to watch two of the leagues elite teams look to start off the second half on the right foot. Unfortunately for the boys in blue, it was the Angelwood Jacks that came out flying to start the game. Fortunately for the boys in blue, they had the Woodslee Wall between the pipes.

Johnny Tracey turned away shot after shot as the Jacks hemmed WWGRD for the first 10-12 minutes of the game, as he was the only reason this game wasn't over before the ice had even dried from the pre-game zamboni. When WWGRD finally got their first good chance, they capitalized, and it was from somewhat of an unexpected source, at least this year. As the puck made it's way around the boards, the team's co-leading scorer, Dylan Berthiaume, fought to get it up and out to a streaking Brent Lozinsky. David Brent then carried the puck in on a 1-on-2 before snapping a wrister passed the Jacks tendy, tickling twine for the first time this season. The lead would be short lived, however, as the Anglewood Jacks would reply with 2 goals of their own to give themselves their first lead of the game.

It was a more predictable goal scorer that would tie the game back up for WWGRD. With the team finally establishing some sustained pressure in the Jacks zone, it was only a matter of time before they found the back of the net. With the puck along the boards, birthday boy Douggie Lambier passed the puck into the middle to the sharp-shooting Brandon Pancerny who quickly released a shot that the Jacks tendy was not ready for. We had a new game and were set up for an exciting finish down the stretch. The Jacks would take the first step, and took a 3-2 lead, but WWGRD wasn't going to let that stand.

The kid Brent continued his breakout game after some impressive puck movement on the powerplay. After countless chances were turned aside, it took a beautiful cross-ice feed from the birthday boy to the now-confident Lozinsky to create the tying goal. David's second goal of the game would be the last, and the two teams would have to settle for a single point to kick off 2014.

Media spoke with the games biggest story, Lozinsky, following the game. "It was great to finally get the monkey off my back, it was pretty much a Gorilla at this point." He then provided a positive message going forward, saying "2014 belongs to WWGRD. No Doubt." They then got to talk with veteran D-man Eric Bauer, who said "I thought we played hard, kept things simple and moved the puck well. I think we played well enough to win, hopefully come up with the same effort but a better result next Thursday!"

Bauer was referring to the teams next game, Thursday, January 23rd against the MF Kids. Action starts at 9pm as WWGRD will be looking for their first dub of 2014.

Undefeated Season Crushed by Meatheads; WWGRD Falls 2-1

Entering their game on November 25th, WWGRD was sitting at the top of the tier 2 standings of the UWIHL standings with a nearly flawless record of 4-0-1, but they knew they would be in tough against The Meatheads. Once again without two of their top defencemen, WWGRD knew it would take a stellar effort to keep the undefeated season alive, and that's exactly what they got from the Woodslee Wall early and often in this game. The first half of this game was spent almost exclusively in the WWGRD defensive zone, with the team rarely giving Johnny Tracey any time to breathe. The wall held sturdy however, not letting the pressure past him until The Meatheads got a somewhat flukey goal by him. With the attacker coming down on him, JT went for the poke check and knocked the puck off of the Meathead's stick, but the puck bounced up and off of the players body and sat there for another player to pounce on and put the games first goal into the open cage.

The Meatheads would solve Johnny once more before WWGRD could finally get one behind the Meathead tendy. WWGRD picked up their play in the second half, peppering the tendy with shots desperately trying to get that all allusive first goal. The tendy was putting on a Woodslee-Wall-like performance, turning aside everything that WWGRD threw at him, until the team's three leading scorers combined to put the boys on the board. Maintaining pressure their whole shift, the line of D. Berthiaume, Pekar and Pancerny were finally able to solve the Meathead back stopper. On a scramble out front, Berthiaume took a whack at the puck which bounced off of the leg of Pancerny and over to Riley Pekar on the short side of the net. With the tendy out of position entirely, Pekar took his time to settle the bouncing puck before popping it in and giving the boys some hope. However, this would turn out to be false hope, as thanks to more stellar play from the Meathead tendy and a questionable call by the referee late in the game, WWGRD was not able to find the game tying goal and would lose their first game of the season 2-1.

Captain Marc Berthiaume spoke to the media following the game about his team's efforts. "We were running around in our own zone a lot in the first, weren't really able to sustain any pressure and Johnny really gave us a chance to stay in this one." He however was a bigger fan of his team's effort in the second half, "I really think we turned it on in the second and gave them our all. Their tendy stood on his head and he earned the two points out there for them. I'm proud of the way we responded out there though and I'm looking forward to seeing the effort we put out next game." Members of the media then caught up to Dylan Berthiaume as he was heading into the shower, and asked him if he was happy with his performance and his team's effort out there. He gave them a deep stare and said, "We fucking lost didn't we? What the fuck do you think then?" He then dropped his towel in the middle of the scrum and bare-ass walked away from the media, cameras flashing, and into the shower. WWGRD takes the ice next on Sunday, December 1st at 10pm against the Angelwood Jacks. After a successful October and November, WWGRD will look to finish off their last game of the first half strong before the Christmas break.

WWGRD Keeps on Rolling Over Team Sketch

Coming in hot with wins in 3 straight games after tying their season opener, WWGRD was looking to continue their early season success with a late-night match up against Team Sketch last Wednesday. The team was looking even better than usual, as new additions Riley Pekar and Brent Lozinsky finally were given their official team jerseys, and veteran Dylan Berthiaume debuted his new number 49 and his well-deserved 'A' that had been added to his jers. WWGRD would get the first goal and it would be a reliable offensive source putting the team on the board first.

With two of their regular defenceman missing, Dan DiCarlo was pumped back to D once again for this match-up, and this game was one of his best in a blue jersey. DiCarlo controlled the puck down low, fighting off defenders in the Team Sketch zone, working and waiting for a teammate to find an opening for him. He eventually found Sean Micelli, one of the teams undisputed leaders in the slot, who quickly let a snapper go that beat the Team Sketch tendy low on the glove side to give WWGRD the games opening lead. Unfortunately, this lead was short-lived. A Team Sketch forward came down on Eric Bauer on a 1-on-1 and made a sweet move through the defenders legs before beating a sprawled Johnny Tracey and tying the game at 1s. It was now time for one of WWGRD best offensive players in this young season to give the team back the lead they deserved.

The somewhat undersized but immensely talented line of Pancerny-Pekar-Lozinsky connected for the games third goal. Riley Pekar deflected an entry pass onto the stick of Brent Lozinsky who flashed some impressive Primrose chem with a sweet pass to neighbour Brandon Pancerny in the slot. Pancerny then ripped a shot similar to the one by Micelli earlier in the game passed the tendy to restore WWGRD's lead. The enslaught would continue with a beautiful goal by a player who is not necessarily known for having silky mitts. Captain Marc Berthiaume cleared a won face-off along the boards where Brandon Pancerny chipped the puck passed the defender at the blue-line. A hand pass by Dylan Berthiaume went undetected by the referees when he attempted to swat the puck onto his own twig but it landed on the stick of Michael Nantau instead. Nantau then flashed an impressive dangle on the Sketch defender before beating the tendy to give WWGRD the games first two-goal lead.

WWGRD wasn't done with the beauty goals there however. Pancerny took a breakout pass from Joshua Covelli, who had another stellar game on the back end, and showed off the mitts he is known for, cutting into the middle and making the defender look foolish. He then fired a shot back across the far side, catching the goalie moving too far over and stretching the lead to 4-1. Perhaps the nicest goal of the night was saved for last, and it was scored by the only player who has found the back of the net more time than Pancerny in the 2013/2014 season. The mustachio madman Dylan Berthiaume, rocking the freshly pressed 'A' on his jers, flew down the right wing, toe dragging and sliding the puck between the legs of the defender as he jumped around him, creating a mini break between only him and the goalie. With the Sketch tendy staying low to take away the bottom half of the night, D Bert popped one bar deezy to stretch the lead to 5-1. Team Sketch would get a late goal to make it 5-2, but that wasn't nearly enough to get them back into this game.

The media spoke to WWGRD's two leading scorers so far this season, Brandon Pancerny and Riley Pekar, who have 8 and 7 points respectively, following the team's win about their early success in the season and both were quick to give credit elsewhere. Pancerny was short and sweet, saying "I just gotta give the credit to my line mates, they do a good job of getting open and finding me when I'm open." Pekar had a similar message, saying "Everyone on the team knows what it takes to win game and we're bringing that kind of mentality every night. The guys are getting in the right spots for me to dish them the puck, and if nothings open I can take it myself. We have a lot of options offensively." The red-hot WWGRD hits the ice again on Monday, November 25th at 11pm where they will be taking on the Meatheads.

WWGRD In Mid-Season Form, 2 Wins in 6 Days

Okay obviously I'm sorry for the lack of a report on the team's 2nd game, but I was not there so I do not know what the fuck I was supposed to do. I can tell you that WWGRD fuckin' dusted Ron Weasley's team for the second time in as many years, to the tune of an 8-3 pounding. Dylan Berthiaume potted 2 in the route, and Michael Nantau, Sean Micelli, Sheldon Tracey, Riley Pekar and call-ups Tim Mlinaric and Luke Leffler added singles for the boys in blue. The boys were short-staffed for the Friday Matinee game on the first day of November, but they fought through adversity in a way only Gary could have taught them to do.

Only 6 days after their first win of the season, WWGRD took the ice in a rematch against the Fire Chiefs, who they tied 3-3 in the season opener. Feeling that they were robbed of a second point in their first meeting, WWGRD was looking to show the Fire Chiefs that the tie was a fluke. The team would have to take the ice without their fearless leader, as captain Marc Berthiaume was out of the lineup with an infected laceration, but he tossed on a suit for the boys and manned the bench. WWGRD would get the early lead they were looking for thanks to their top line of Pancerny-Micelli and All-Swedish.

It was a quick strike that there was no defense for. With the face-off at the right-hand dot in the offensive zone, Seaner Michelli won a clean draw back-handed to the sharp-shooting Pancerny who was positioned at the top of the circle. The fan-favourite Pancerny let the shot go as quickly as it got to him, and beat the Fire Chief tendy to give WWGRD the 1-0 lead. After a couple of goals (probably bullshit goals) in response from the Fire Chiefs, the first line would come to the rescue again. Working the puck in the offensive zone, Micelli was able to get control of the puck along the side boards. He held the puck and waited for a passing lane before firing a pass to the front of the net for No Finish. The Macedonian Menace kicked the pass towards the net and off the tendys pad, before jamming the rebound in and tying the game back up at 2s.

The Fire Chiefs would once again have an answer, scoring two more goals to take a 4-2 lead, including a centering pass that went off of defenceman Douglas Lambier's skate and in. WWGRD was down but they were not out. They turned to their impressive '93 line which had been getting chances all game to bring them back into this one. Brent Lozinsky stripped the forward of the puck in the Fire Chief zone and passed it down low to Dylan Berthiaume at the side of the net. Berthiaume tried to wrap the puck to the far side of the of net but lost control of it. Riley Pekar, stitches in his lip and all, corralled the loose puck and tossed a back hander into the night to bring the boys back within one. With WWGRD controlling the play, obviously it was their first line that would pull the boys even again.

The team's continued pressure would lead to a turnover to the wrong boy in blue. A Fire Chief clearing attempt up the middle would prove costly as the puck would find it's way to the red-hot Pancerny. B-Money pumped a shot towards the net that would pinball off a couple of Fire Chief shin pads before finding the pack of the net. With the game now tied up, the table was set for a hero from last season to make his mark on this season much sooner this time around.

With time trickling down and a Fire Chief attacker attempting to break passed the defense of WWGRD, a blur of blue that later turned out to be Riley Pekar flew by him and stripped the puck. Pekar tossed the puck up the boards and as Dylan Berthiaume stepped on the ice he chipped it to a streaking Douggie Lambier. With the game on his stick, Douggie wound out and gave everything he had into a clapper... which went wide and started wrapping around the boards with less than 10 seconds left. Sheldon Tracey put his head down from the red line and skated on a dead line for the puck. He beat the first Fire Chief to the puck and absorbed the checks of a few more before finding himself down low with 3 seconds left and two teammates out front. He sauced a puck to the front which Dylan Berthiaume was able to get a twig on and deflect off the post and in less than a second before the buzzer went to end the game!! The team flooded the ice to celly the huge W, including coach Marc Berthiaume who beat half of the team to the celly despite wearing dress shoes before being told to get off the ice. WWGRD now sits at a respectable 2-0-1 through 3 games.

Sheldon Tracey spoke to the media following the game about his hero play along the boards to keep the game alive. "To put it in the words of Miley Cyrus, I came in like a wrecking ball." He then licked his twig (since he didn't have a hammer) before continuing, "I couldn't believe I escaped with the puck at my feet and I knew with the puck on my twig there was no way we were going to lose." Now with 2 goals in as many games to start the year, Alex Djordjevski is doing his best to shake all of the nicknames and comments about his lack of ability to finish. He spoke about what has lead to his success in the early season, giving most of the credit to "some chem built over the offseason via drunk chel." He then awkwardly smiled as the members of the media slowly walked away, no longer interested in what No Finnish had to say. WWGRD now awaits the announcement of when their next game will be, as they will look to keep their undefeated season alive.

WWGRD Can't Put Out the Fire Chiefs, Settle for Tie

It was a bumping atmosphere at Adie Knox arena in Windsor on Wednesday night as WWGRD kicked off their 2013/2014 campaign with a matchup against the Fire Chiefs. Everyone was excited to see new additions Riley Pekar and Brent Lozinsky, and to see how the team would follow up their break-through season that fell just one game short of reaching the championship game last year. Both teams came out flying in front of a capacity crowd at the beautiful arena, but it was WWGRD who got the start they were looking for.

The line of Pancerny, Seaner Micelli and All Swedish Djordjevski, which has shown the most chemistry over the past two years together, was the line that got it started for the boys in blue. No Finish gave the puck to the WWGRD A-Cap Micelli who used impressive speed and skill to get around a defender, and found himself coming in on the goaltender. As the goalie followed him to his forehand, the kid with the golden flow attempted to bring the puck back with one hand and slide it passed a sprawling Fire Chief tendy, but was not able to get enough on the puck. HOWEVER, the Macedonian Menace was in the perfect spot to pounce on the loose puck and pound it into the open cage to give the boys the 1-0 lead, a lead they would hold at the intermission.

A sloppy play in the early goings of the second half would lead to the tying goal by the Fire Chiefs. On a casual play where the puck was played around the boards by the defenseman, captain Marc Berthiaume was unable to corral the puck, allow it to squeek into open ice. Despite the puck appearing to exit the zone, the Fire Chief defender fired the puck quickly back down low to a wide open teammate as WWGRD was exiting the zone, assuming the play had been made by their fearless leader. In all alone, the Woodslee Wall had no chance and the game was tied.

The teams third line would redeem themselves on that same shift though. Mark Micelli carried the puck into the zone and left a drop pass for Captain Crunch, who was looking to atone for his earlier mistake. He carried the puck down the left wing and flipped a pass into the slot to a streaking Michael Nantau, who continued to show his scoring ability and beat the Fire Chief tendy five hole to give WWGRD their lead back. Thanks to the teams video and camera crew (Pekar's girlfriend and her phone), Nantau's go-ahead goal can be seen below.

The boys in blue would carry this momentum and add to their lead only a few shifts later. After hemming the Fire Chiefs in their own zone, WWGRD was able to catch them in an odd man opportunity on a failed clearing attempt. All Swedish Djordjevski got the puck to the smooth-handed Pancerny, who calmly fed a pass to stud defenceman Joshua Covelli. The Italian Stallion made no mistake as he pumped a Stammer-like one-tee into the twine for his first career WWGRD goal. Luckily, since no one would have believe he actually scored otherwise, this goal was also captured on video by the team's camera crew.

Unfortunately things would take a turn for the worse for everyone's favourite UWIHL team, as the Fire Chiefs would start their comeback with just over 3 minutes left. An absolute rocket shot that moved a bit and fooled Johnny Tracey would bring the chiefs within 1, and WWGRD was not able to hold onto the lead much longer. After a scrum behind the net, the puck trickled out front to a wide open Fire Chief forward who had all day to make a move on Johnny and tie the game up at the eventual final score of 3-3.

Reporters caught up to Joshua Covelli after the game to talk to him about finally scoring his first goal for WWGRD. He was light-hearted about it, saying "It was a huge relief to get that monkey off my back, that little shit was starting to build a home for himself back there!" He then went on to say ,"Hopefully this isn't the end of me," and winked at the cameras as he walked away. We then caught up to Dylan Berthiaume, who's line with Lozinsky and Pekar was creating chances all day but wasn't able to find the back of the net. "I thought we played a good 35 minute game, but it just goes to show you in this league if you take your foot off the gas for 5 minutes you can lose a game just like that..." He, like the rest of the team, was staying positive however, adding "on the plus side, I really liked our puck possession throughout the game, our offensive flow was good, we just gotta work on getting shots on goal. Goaltending was great, defense was solid, we just gotta put the puck in the net."

WWGRD waits to hear when they hit the ice next.

WWGRD 2013/2014 Season Preview

Its the most wonderful time of the year! Holy fuck boys, WWGRD is finally returning! It's been a long off-season following the team's deepest play-off run in franchise history, but now that this team has gotten a taste of success, anything else would be a disappointment. It's time to meet the men who will be wearing the blue and white this season, looking to improve on last year's semi-final exit.

#3 - Daniel DiCarlo

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 185
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 10 GP, 1 G, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: It's all about untapped potential when it comes to this versatile skater for WWGRD, more specifically the untapped potential of his fucking rocket of a clapper. Dan's goal total will depend entirely on the number of clap-bombs he can unleash at the net, and how many times he can unnecessarily dangle and entire team and go bar-deezy for the boys. Look for a break out year from this scrappy Italian.

#6 - Douglas Lambier

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 164
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Woodslee, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 8 GP, 6 G, 2 A, 8 P, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: Teams are always looking to add a puck-moving defenceman, and that is what WWGRD has in this slick-skating Woodslee-native. Douggie managed to put up a point-per-game pace last season from the back end, all while not letting his defensive game suffer. His calming presence and undeniable skill will allow him to once again be a threat every time he pulls the blue and white over his head this season.

#7 -Sheldon Tracey (A)

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 190
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Woodslee, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 10 GP, 1 G, 4 A, 5 P, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: Sheldon is as reliable as they come on the blueline. A solid defender with offensive flair, Tracey has shown his leadership over the past two seasons with his play on the ice. Never one to take a play off, Sheldon plays the way Gary taught us all how to.

#9 - Brandon Pancerny

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 135
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 14 GP, 4 G, 5 A, 9 P
Season Expectations: Undeniably one of WWGRD's most talented offensive players, Pancerny's speed and mitts make him a threat to put the puck in the net anytime he puts twig to rubber. Despite his noticable size differential with most opponents, B will work harder than anyone on the ice to get the puck for his teammates. It wouldn't be surprising to see this kids name on the league leaderboards at the end of his sophomore season with WWGRD.

#11 - Mark Micelli

Height: 5'7"
Weight: 162
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 10 GP, 5 G, 5 A, 10 P
Season Expectations: Quietly tying for 3rd in team scoring last year with 10 points, the elder Micelli brother always finds a way to make an impact when he's in the game. One of WWGRD's most defensively responsibly forwards, the oldest member of WWGRD always sets a shining example for his younger teammates to follow. Look for #11 to once again be near the top of team scoring come the end of the season.

#13 - Michael Nantau

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 170
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 8 GP, 6 G, 3 A, 9 P, 6 PIMs
Season Expectations: Despite being known for his intimidating physical presence, Nantau put up impressive offensive stats last season. He was 1 of only 4 WWGRD players to put up at least 1 point per game, and his 6 goals were good for a tie of second on the team. He will continue to ensure the safety of his teammates when he is on the ice, simply by mean-mugging the shit out of everyone, but his offensive numbers last year were not a fluke.

#19 - Sean Micelli (A)

Height: 6'3"
Weight: 190
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 15 GP, 5 G, 13 A, 18 P, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: By far the teams leading scorer last season, it would be hard to imagine the tallest member of WWGRD being knocked off that perch this season. His ability in the face-off dot makes the coaching staff comfortable putting him on the ice in all situations, and his sweet flow and smooth mitts make him fun to watch on the ice. Look for another dominant season from the team's undisputed #1 Center.

#21 - Alexander Djordjevski

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 155
Shoots: Right
Hometown: A basket on someones porch, Macedonia
2012/2013 Stats: 14 GP, 5 G, 4 A, 9 P
Season Expectations: Everyone's favourite nickname, the Macedonian Menace, Alex "All Swedish, No Finish" Djordjevski, is always putting himself in the right positions to be successful offensively. Experts are predicting anywhere from 0-22 goals from this Tomas Kaberle look-alike, but given the number of chances this kid missed last year, I think he's do for a huge year! Wouldn't kill him to straighten out his jersey for next years picture though #slob.

#28 - Joshua Covelli

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 153
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 12 GP, 5 A, 6 PIMs
Season Expectations: This stocky Italian defender exceeded all expectations in his rookie season last year, impressing his teammates enough to take home the Norris Trophy as the teams best defenceman. Arguably the most defensively reliable member of a strong D-core, Veller plays a mistake-free and smart game. Despite scoring as many goals as Johnny Tracey last season, the kid does have some offensive touch, and it is highly unlikely he will be held off the scoresheet again this season.

#44 - John Matthew McNaughton

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 175
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Lakeshore, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 7 GP, 1 A(unofficial)
Season Expectations: There was a learning curve for the WWGRD rookie who was lacing up the skates for the first time last season, but now that the kid has a full season under his belt, look for a breakout year from McNasty. I'm predicting career highs in goals, assists, points and PIMs for the big-bodied forward, if you're looking for a sophomore slump you'll have to look elsewhere.

#47 - David Brent Lozinsky

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 190
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 2 GP, 1 A
Season Expectations: After registering 1 assist in 2 games as a call-up last season, Lozinsky signed with WWGRD in the off-season. Wearing #47 in honour of the great Leo Komorov, he is already taking a huge step in the right direction towards fitting in on this team. Not a whole lot is known of this kids game on the ice, other than the fact he's a beauty. His consistency and strong hockey background could be one of the final pieces to take this team to the next level.

#49 - Dylan Berthiaume

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 170
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Belle River, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 14 GP, 2 G, 8 A, 10 P, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: Willing to play any role for the boys, D-Bert leaves it all on the line for this team. Despite only notching 2 ginos last year, he scored the biggest goal of the year for WWGRD last season when he buried late in the quarter-final game to send the team to the semis. Look for a monumental increase in goal production from this kid in 2013/2014, especially if paired on a '93 line with new-comers Lozinsky and Pekar.

#54 - Riley Pekar

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 140
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Tecumseh, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 6 GP, 1 G, 3 A, 4 P
Season Expectations: After making numerous appearances for WWGRD over the past two seasons, Pekar finally put ink to paper and signed a deal to join the team full-time this summer. Pekar's impressive speed and top-teir offensive ability will allow WWGRD to spread out their offensive attack through multiple lines, and will himself be contending for the team scoring lead. He is another addition that could push WWGRD and its loyal fan base to the promised land!

#61 - Marc Berthiaume (C)

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 220
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Belle River, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 15 GP, 8 G, 5 A, 13 P, 3 PIMs
Season Expectations: WWGRD's captain is returning as the team's leading goal scorer last season with 8, although 3 did come in one game. Goal scoring is not the focal point of the big forwards game, he is more of a hard working mucker who focuses on doing the little things right. Although he does have offensive potential to put up similar numbers to last year, he may be best served as a role player creating space for the skilled players to do what they do best.

#73 - Jonathan Tracey

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 195
Glove: Left
Hometown: Woodslee, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 13 GP, 5 W, 1 SO, 4.15 GAA
Season Expectations: There's no way to sugarcoat it, Tracey stole a couple of games for WWGRD last season. His calm and level-headed play didn't allow many second-chance opportunities, and his timely saves ignited the bench in time of need. Tracey has the skill set to be an elite goaltender in the UWIHL, and if he plays as he is capable of, WWGRD will be poised for another deep play-off run.

#93 - Eric Bauer

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 235
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Windsor, Ontario
2012/2013 Stats: 11 GP, 1 G, 4 A, 5 P, 6 PIMs
Season Expectations: This biggest body on the WWGRD blue line, Bauer doesn't fuck around in front of the net. If you're dumb enough to try to get in Tracey's crease, you're deserve the punishment #93 is gonna dish on you. With an abundance of defensive experience and ability to go along with a booming shoot and filthy sauce, Bauer is one of many multi-talented defenseman playing in front of the Woodslee Wall. Look for Bauer to put up some solid numbers after finally registering his first career WWGRD goal last season.

WWGRD opens their season Wednesday, October 23rd at 10pm against the Fire Chiefs. The first 3,000 fans through the gate will receive an autographed 2012/2013 team photo, and be entered in a draw spend a day with their favourite WWGRD player. Sources say team coach Dylan Turnbull will be in town and behind the bench for the season opener.
