WWGRD Award Nominees

With the 2012/2013 regular season coming to a close, it is time to announce the nominees for the regular season awards. I will list each of the awards and provide a brief description of the award (word for word off of Wikipedia) and then list the nominees. Who wins the awards? That's up to the readers. On the left hand side of the blog, you will find a poll for each of the awards. You may select one (1) nominee only for each award, so choose wisely. If you wish to see season statistics to aid in your decisions, the spreadsheet with player statistics can be found by clicking the link at the top on the left hand side. Now, let's meet the nominees!

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy: Awarded to the player who exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct with a high standard of playing ability.

Pancerny, Brandon: 0 PIMSs in 14 Games Played

Vezina Trophy: Awarded to the top goaltender.
Bushnell, Hunter: 2-0-0, 2.00 GAA
Tracey, Jonathan: 5-7-1, 1 Shutout, 4.15 GAA

Calder Memorial Trophy: Awarded to the most outstanding rookie player (call-up).
Kessel, Phil: 4 Points in 8 GP
Pekar, Riley: 4 Points in 6 GP
Sundin, Mats: 5 Points in 7 GP
James Norris Memorial Trophy: Awarded to the defenceman who in the season demonstrates the greatest all-around ability in the position.
Bauer, Eric: 5 Points in 11 GP
Covelli, Joshua: 5 Points in 12 GP
Lambier, Douglas: 8 Points in 8 GP
Tracey, Sheldon: 5 Points in 10 GP

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy: Awarded to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perserverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
Covelli, Joshua: Broke his finger
McNaughton, John Matthew: Never played puck until now
Nantau, Michael: Knee Injury/Contract Hold-Out, Took a puck to the face  

Frank J. Selke Award: Awarded to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.
Berthiaume, Dylan: 10 Points in 14 GP
Bouttete, Ryan: 7 Points in 8 GP, Played Forward/Defence
DiCarlo, Dan: 1 Point in 10 GP, Played Forward/Defence

Jack Adams Award: Awarded to the coach judged to have contributed to his team's success.
McGuire, Jerry: 1 Game Coached, Intense Motivator
Morand, Alexandra: Coached a few games, got fired
Turnbull, Dylan: Only made a few games, lost him to the Petes

NHL Foundation Player Award: Awarded to the player who applies the core values of hockey to enrich the lives of people in his community.
Djordjevski, Alex: Huge icon in both the Macedonian and Swedish communities
McNaughton, John Matthew: Showed everyone it's never too late to pick up the game

Mark Messier Leadership Award: Awarded to the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice, during the regular season.
Berthiaume, Marc: Captain, Appeared in all 15 Games, 8 Goals, 5 Assists
Micelli, Sean: A-Captain, Appeared in all 15 Games, 5 Goals, 13 Assists
Tracey, Sheldon: A-Captain, Two-Way Defender, 1 Goal, 4 Assists

Hart Memorial Trophy: Awarded to the player voted to be most valuable to his team's success.
Lambier, Douglas: Point-a-Game Player from the back-end, huge part of team's offence
Micelli, Sean: Led the team in Assits (13) and Points (18)
Tracey, Johnathan: Led the team in Wins (5) and Shutouts (1)
